Hello Chamber Members and Followers,
My name is David Frank and I am the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for your Chamber of Commerce. As this years Chairman, I plan to chronicle my year in a series of blog posts on our new and improved web site. I will be writing about all of the exciting businesses and people we meet throughout the implementation of our 2015-2016 program of work.
Each year the incoming Chairman sets a theme for his or her year. At our annual retreat I announced my theme in the form of a challenge to the Board of Directors. I challenged them to "Be a Star" in their professions, with their service on the Board of Directors and in our community. They have been challenged to engage, embrace and endorse. To attend events and engage with our community, to embrace technology, social media, to endorse and support non-profits and local charities.
In keeping with the theme of “Be a Star”, we have designed our Annual Awards and Installation Banquet to take on the feel of the Academy Awards. The event is on Tuesday June 9th, 6:30pm at Tampa Bay Downs, a dress up red carpet affair complete with paparazzi and video interviews. The event MC is Oldsmar Mayor Doug Bevis. The new Board of Directors will be installed, and several awards will be handed out to community volunteers, citizen of the year and local high school seniors being awarded scholarships.
